Description

The Norman Arch in the garden of Lord Leicester's Hospital dates from 1781 and is located on the north side of High Street. This arch was reconstructed using stones that were discovered beneath the floor of the Hospital's Chapel. It is believed to have originally been the chancel arch of the Norman chapel of St James, which was granted to St Mary's College in the 12th century.
