Description

Numbers 26-31 and attached railings form a terrace of six houses, dating from 1837, with later alterations made around 1902, originally built as houses but now used as houses and flats. The terrace was constructed by John Toone of Leamington Priors, with further alterations undertaken for Frederick W Lee in the early 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with stucco facades scored to resemble ashlar, covered by Welsh slate roofs. Cast-iron railings are also present.

The terrace is three storeys high with basements and attics to the rear, featuring twelve first-floor windows and rear extensions. The first floor has six-over-two pane sashes, while the second floor has three-over-six pane sashes, all with sills and set in plain reveals. The ground floor entrances feature part-glazed and four-panel doors with fanlights exhibiting radial glazing set within round-arched surrounds. Canted bay windows have six-over-one pane glazing. French windows are present in the basements, and ridge stacks have cornices. The rear elevations feature mainly six-over-six and three-over-six pane sashes. A balcony with a double-heart-and-anthemion motif is present on the first floor of the left return.

The interior of the properties was not inspected during the assessment.

The railings abutting the left side are topped with spear-head finials and larger newel posts. Matching railings are located at the rear of several of the houses. Milverton Crescent was laid out and the south half built between 1834 and 1838.
