Description
Fieldgate House in Thirlwall is a building that may date back to before 1692, when it was known as More End Hall. It was altered in the 19th century. The house is constructed of red brick that is colour washed on the south front and features old tile roofs. Fieldgate House has three storeys, while Thirlwall has two storeys and is slightly recessed. The building includes cornices with blocking courses and has four-over-four sash windows with 19th-century glazing bars. A stone Doric porch leads to Fieldgate House, which contains a staircase hall featuring a tall arched window and a semi-circular half domed niche, along with onolo and modillion cornices.
