Description

The Obelisk at Farnborough Hall is a structure dating from around 1746, with a date of 1751 and noted as 'Rebuilt 1823'. It is possibly designed by Sanderson Miller for William Holbech. The obelisk is made of limestone ashlar and is tall and very slender. It features a high pedestal with a moulded stepped base and cornice. This structure serves as the focal point at the end of the Terrace Walk, which is likely also designed by Miller, and represents a significant example of 18th-century landscape design.
