Description
The barn and tack room at Hayes Hall, dating from the late 18th century, is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond. It features a plain-tiled roof with a double gable that includes a valley gutter, gable end parapets on kneelers, and a dentil cornice. The structure consists of three bays, with round-headed arches serving as breathers on either side of the wagon entry, which is also topped with a similar arch. The end wall has additional breathers in similar arches, along with a round breather in the gable head. Attached to the west end is the tack room, built with similar materials, and there is a chimney located in the south-west corner. The building is a single cell and has two storeys, with round-headed arches for the openings. Inside, the barn features cross walls and axial walls with round-headed openings for movement. The roof is supported by king-post trusses with intermediate trusses, and the principal roof trusses have ashlar pieces resting on brick walls. The bay at the west end has been floored.
