Description
The remains of Alvecote Priory are located in Shuttington and date from the 14th century. The ruins are constructed from regularly coursed sandstone. The south wall features an isolated central section that stands approximately 5 metres high, which includes a doorway with two stop-moulded orders. The left return side has part of a plain doorway, while the right return side contains a fragment of a stone mullioned window. To the north-east, there is a low fragment of wall, likely a remnant of the south wall of the monastic church. The site is scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
