Description
The sundial, located approximately 40 meters south of the Church of St Edward in Cheddleton, is possibly made from parts of a 17th-century cross. It is constructed from stone and features an octagonal base that is jointed and in two parts. The square shaft stands about 1.2 meters high and is chamfered with run-out stops at the base and under the head. There is a scrolled inscription under the rim, with the initials "H.O." and "C.W." inscribed on the north-east and north-west faces, respectively.
