Description

The churchyard retaining wall around the Church of St Edward is likely from the 18th century, with parts rebuilt around 1876 to match the work of George Gilbert Scott Junior. The wall features coursed dressed and squared stone, with an approximately 30-meter section to the east and west of the lychgate on the south side made of ashlar quality stone. This section stands 1.2 to 2 meters high and has a roll-crested pitched coping that serves both as a parapet and as a retaining wall. The remaining sections of the wall are constructed from coarser materials and have plain coping.
