Description
The Smith memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 10 meters north-east of the north aisle of the Church of St Edward in Cheddleton. It commemorates Edward Smith, who died in 1838. The tomb is made of stone and features a moulded plinth with pilasters at the corners. Both the plinth and the top slab are designed to break around the pilasters. The sides of the tomb have double-incised inscribed panels, and the top slab has a moulded edge. The plinth still retains remnants of a former railed enclosure.
