Description
79 and 81 Newcastle Road are a pair of houses built around 1820. They are constructed from brick with ashlar dressings and feature a slate roof with brick end stacks. Designed in the Georgian style, the houses are two storeys high and have a symmetrical two-window range. The paired segmental-headed entrances each have six-panel doors. The windows are fitted with sills and have wedge lintels above 16-pane sashes. At the rear, there is a gabled wing. These houses are part of the development of Stone that occurred following the construction of the canal in 1772.
