Description
Two houses located at 52 and 54 Newcastle Road, built around 1775. They are constructed of brick with a tile roof and feature brick end stacks. The buildings are three storeys high and have a symmetrical two-window arrangement. A top modillioned brick cornice adds to their architectural detail. The central entrances are paired and segmental-headed, with the left entrance featuring a four-panel door. The windows have wooden sills and casements. The rear of the houses is blind and includes a short gable wing. These houses were built as part of the development of Stone following the construction of the Trent and Mersey Canal in 1772 and are included for their group value.
