Description
The Church of St Peter, located on Loggerheads Road in Eccleshall, was rebuilt between 1630 and 1640 in a simplified Gothic style. Constructed of stone, it features a nave with aisles, a chancel, and an east tower. The interior remains largely unaltered, showcasing box pews dated 1711 and whitened walls. There are significant remnants of late medieval and 17th-century painted glass, including heraldic designs. The south aisle windows were created by Kempe. Noteworthy mural monuments include cartouches dedicated to William Bagot (1687) and Spencer Broughton (1702), as well as a tablet honoring Sir Brian Broughton. An unusual stoup-shaped font is located in the respond of the north tower arch.
