Description

The Gatehouse, built around 1575, is a striking example of Elizabethan architecture. It has an ashlar stone facade and a rectangular shape, featuring octagonal turrets with ogee domes at each corner and a central archway. The building stands three storeys tall, with each level adorned with a different order of columns: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. A balustraded parapet crowns the structure. Inside, the space has been largely stripped, and the roof is nearly gone. The windows are designed with mullions and transoms.
