Description
The Shepherd's Monument at Shugborough Hall is a notable structure featuring an entablature supported by Doric columns. It encloses an arch that resembles a ferny grotto, which frames a beautiful marble relief created by Scheemakers. This relief depicts an old shepherd, accompanied by two young shepherds and a maiden, as he deciphers the inscription "Et in Arcadia" on a tomb.
