Description

Sandborough Farmhouse is probably of 16th-century origin, with later alterations and additions. The farmhouse is largely constructed of red brick, with a timber-framed wing featuring brick infill panels, part of which has been rebuilt in brick. It has a plain tile roof, a brick ridge stack, and corner stacks. The building follows a T-shaped plan, with the main range aligned north-west to south-east and a crosswing at the south-east end. A late 18th or 19th-century extension wing projects to the north-west.

The south-west elevation features casement windows with segmental heads to the loft, and to the right-hand gabled crosswing. A 20th-century conservatory with a corrugated lean-to roof fills the space between. A half-glazed door is located to the right of the crosswing.

The north-east elevation displays a gabled crosswing to the left, with an exposed queen strut roof truss carrying one pair of purlins and a ridge piece. To the right is a gabled extension wing. The main range is recessed, featuring a 19th-century gabled porch on the left and irregular window placement. The crosswing has exposed square-panel framing on its side. The interior was not inspected but is likely to be of interest.
