Description
Woodhouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with an earlier core that may date back to the 17th century. It is constructed of red brick, featuring some fragments of 17th-century timber framing, and has a plain tile roof. The farmhouse includes a 17th-century brick ridge stack with star-shaped shafts and an 18th-century external end stack. The original 17th-century structure is a baffle-entry house aligned northwest to southeast and faces southwest.
In the 18th century, a significant addition was made to the northwest, which may have involved the demolition of part of the 17th-century house. The 18th-century section on the left is three storeys tall, with reduced proportions on the second floor, and features a dentilled eaves band. It has a two-window front, with 20th-century bow windows on the ground floor and 20th-century casements on the first floor within 18th-century openings that have segmental heads. The second floor retains 18th-century casements with leaded panes.
Attached to the right is the lower 17th-century building, which is two storeys with an attic. This section has a right-hand gable, a left-hand glazed door in front of the stack, and 20th-century casements in 18th-century openings with segmental heads. The interior has not been inspected but may be of interest.
