Description
38-44 Bore Street is a pair of houses that have been converted into shops and a restaurant. They date from the late 16th century or early 17th century and underwent extensive restoration and alterations in the 1960s. The buildings feature a timber frame with concrete and brick additions, topped by a renewed tile roof that has five cross gables. They are two storeys high and have a five-window range. The ground floor has 20th-century shop windows that are set back behind 20th-century concrete posts and beams. The first-floor windows consist of three-light leaded casements. The timber-framing on the exterior includes herringbone patterns, and there is Jacobean relief decoration on the wall post to the right of the central gable. The rear of the buildings has significant 20th-century additions.
