Description
The structure consists of steps, two pairs of urns, and flanking ice houses, dating from around 1900. The urns, possibly made of concrete, are positioned at either end of an avenue, which features steps at the south end and in the center, extending approximately 50 meters in total. The urns are adorned with crests, gadrooning at the lid and base, a festooned central frieze, and a beaded foot. The ice houses, which were partially demolished at the time of the resurvey in November 1984, are located on either side of the avenue, both vaulted in brick. This group is part of a larger man-made landscape associated with The Lawns, an Edwardian mansion built for the Bass family, who were brewers in Burton-on-Trent.
