Description

Number 6A, including the malthouse to the rear, is an 18th-century brick building with a plain-tiled roof. The street-facing side is rendered and features two storeys, while the rest of the building is one storey. The street elevation is four bays wide and has modern casements on the ground floor. At the rear, the malthouse and kiln project out. The building has a brick dentilled eaves cornice, and the kiln roof is hipped with louvred vents. Although the furnace has been removed, the iron joists of the floor remain. This is the oldest known malthouse in Burton and a rare example of a small malthouse in Staffordshire.
