Description

The Church of St Peter is a parish church located on Main Street in Yoxall. It has early 13th century origins but was largely restored and partly rebuilt between 1865 and 1868 by Henry Woodyer. The church is constructed of stone and features a slate roof. The arcades and aisles date from the 14th century, while the south doorway, which has undergone significant restoration, is from around 1200. The church also includes a Perpendicular style west tower. Inside, there is a notable alabaster tomb with effigies of Humphrey Welles, who died in 1565, and his wife, as well as a stone canopied tomb with an effigy of Admiral Henry Meynell, created in 1865 by Baron Marochetti.
