Description

The Anglesey Hotel is a large stuccoed house built in 1831 for Edmund Peel, the third son of Sir Robert Peel. It features Jacobean characteristics and stands two storeys high. The building has advanced wings at the sides, which are topped with stepped gables that have obelisk finials. The central recess includes an arched loggia on the lower storey, which is topped by a balustrade of a pierced arcaded type. All the windows are multi-ported casements that were formerly set within square hood moulds. The hotel also has a smaller central gable with finials and an armorial shield, along with clustered octagonal stacks.
