Description
The Former Star Public House, located at No 30 High Street, is a late 18th century to 17th century timber-framed building with a stucco exterior. It stands three storeys high and features two splayed bay windows that are tiered over the three storeys. The original sash windows on the second storey have altered glazing bars on the first storey, while the ground storey has modern leaded lights. The building has a plain square-headed wood doorcase and a plain semicircular headed doorway on the left that leads to a passage, which showcases exposed timber framing at the sides and above. The eaves have a boarded soffit, and the roof is covered with old tiles. Additionally, there is a good iron inn sign-bracket that holds a painted modern sign. Inside, the interior has been generally altered but still retains exposed ceiling beams and some timber framing.
