Description
The Red House is an early 19th-century red brick house located in Oakengates Priorslee. It features a low-pitched slate hipped roof and has a plain stone plinth, cornice, and a band at the level of the first-floor window sills. The building is three storeys high and consists of three bays. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, set beneath gauged flat brick arches and stone cills. The central windows on the first and second floors are framed by moulded architraves, with the first-floor window also featuring a cornice. A central circular porch is set within a semi-circular recess and is supported by Tuscan columns, which hold up an entablature and a hemispherical dome. The central door is designed to follow the curvature of the porch.
