Description
Morville Hall is a large grey stone mansion that was originally built in the 16th century and remodelled in the early 18th century. The building features two projecting wings and two additional detached office blocks topped with domed lanterns and wind-vanes, connected by curved screen walls. The main block has curious two-storey pilasters that are disguised buttresses, topped with stone ball ornaments. An additional third storey was added in the 18th century, which includes a low parapet and a moulded cornice. The slate roof is complemented by sash windows and a central pedimented porch, with turret stairs located in the corners of the forecourt. Morville Hall stands on the site of a demolished priory and is situated close to the church, forming an imposing layout. It was formerly part of the Aldenham estate.
