Description
30 and 31 St John's Hill are a pair of houses, now used as offices, dating from the early 18th century. They are constructed of brick and topped with a Welsh slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high and feature an eight-window range. The doorcase of No.30 is ornate, with an entablature supported by moulded brackets and a traceried fan, while No.31 has simpler detailing on its doorcase. No.31 has twelve-pane sash windows that have been renewed, with fine gauged flat-arched brick heads on the ground floor and steep segmental heads above. The first floor has blind outer windows. A deep moulded wood modillion eaves cornice runs along the top, and there are four attic dormers with segmental and triangular pediments. The buildings have a central rear axial stack.
