Description

The former clay pipe works and kiln dates from the early to mid-19th century. It comprises two parallel ranges, each forming an L-shaped plan. The buildings are constructed of red brick with tiled roofs. The range facing the street is three storeys high and features casement windows. A segmental-headed doorway is located on the left side. Adjacent to this range is a two-storey wing with two sash windows. The eaves are formed by a corbelled brick detail. A brick 'bottle' kiln is situated at the northwest corner of the rear block. It is believed that this was the last clay pipe works in the country when it ceased production in 1968.
