Description

Prices Bridge, also known as Bridge Number 68, is an accommodation bridge built around 1797 to 1801, with minor later alterations. It is part of the Ellesmere Canal, designed by William Jessop and Thomas Telford. The bridge is constructed of red brick and features a stone-coped parapet that ends in square corner piers. It has an elliptical arch with projecting keybricks and a string course. On the east side, there is a late 20th-century oval-shaped plate numbered "68." This section of the Ellesmere Canal was opened around 1801. The Ellesmere Canal Company merged with the Chester Canal Company in 1813 and became part of the Shropshire Union Canal in 1846.
