Description
The wall enclosing the churchyard of Saint Andrew is a structure dating from the early and late 18th century and the late 19th century. It is constructed from dressed and roughly dressed red sandstone, with some sections made of uncoursed red sandstone additions. The church stands on a raised circular platform, and the early 18th century part of the wall follows the line of the southeast quarter of this platform. The churchyard was later enlarged to the north and west in the late 18th and 19th centuries, leading to the rebuilding of parts of the wall. The 18th century features include dressed chamfered coping, while the 19th century sections have roughly dressed chamfered coping. There is a coping block on the southeast section of the wall inscribed with the names "John Harpar And/William Joron (?)/ Wardens 172-", although the inscription is not completely legible as of January 1986. The raised platform indicates that the site may have an early origin.
