Description

The remains of Shrawardine Castle date back to the 12th century. Constructed from red sandstone rubble, there are also fragments of dressed sandstone. The site features the remnants of a shell keep situated on a motte. The motte and bailey were established before 1165. The castle was slighted in 1644.
