Description

The retaining wall located approximately 5 metres to the south-east of Number 1, Tittenley Lodge, was built in 1885, likely by the architect Richard Norman Shaw. It is constructed of red brick with yellow and grey sandstone ashlar dressings and features a quadrant plan. The wall has chamfered stone coping and square end piers that include moulded recessed panels and moulded stone caps topped with globe finials. This wall, along with its twin on the opposite side, marks the start of the public road through Shavington Park and is included for its group value.
