Description

Poswick Lodge is a 17th-century house with significant alterations from the 18th century. The front facade displays 18th-century detailing including a modillion eaves cornice and a pediment. The two-storey facade features three sash windows, with a Venetian window centrally positioned on the first floor. A six-panelled door is set within a surround of fluted pilasters, topped with an open pediment and fanlight. Keystones feature above the windows, and a lunette is located within the pediment. The roof is hipped and covered in slate with dormers. The front elevation has a rendered finish. The interior includes an 18th-century staircase, and rooms with pilaster cornices. A section of the original 17th-century structure remains at the rear. This rear staircase is noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments volume II, page 215, as having original flat, wavy balusters.
