Description
The King's Head Hotel is a 17th-century building located on the north side of High Street. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of brick, featuring an early 19th-century stucco front. The façade includes five sash windows; the third-floor windows have interlacing glazing bars, while the first-floor windows are adorned with flat rusticated arches and key blocks. The building is enhanced by six Ionic pilasters that extend from the ground to a frieze with a cornice situated below the top floor windows. The doorway is notable for its wide open pediment supported by attached Ionic columns, along with entablature blocks and an elliptical fanlight. Inside, there are some 17th-century panelled doors. The King's Head, along with Nos 9 to 11 (consecutive), "Serendipity," and No 13, form a cohesive group.
