Description

Church House is a 17th-century farmhouse with a later 17th or early 18th-century extension to the west. It is timber-framed with a sandstone plinth, brick infill, and partial brick refacing, all under tiled roofs. The house has five framed bays aligned east/west, facing south, with a south-extending wing to the west, formerly a barn. An entrance is located to the right of the centre of the main house, with a large external stack on the east gable end and an inserted axial stack to the west wing. The main house is two storeys high, featuring six two-light casement windows on the first floor, two three-light casement windows to the left, and a single similar window to the right of the gabled porch, which has a 20th-century door. The west wing is single-storey and has an attic with a gabled dormer containing a three-light window on the north end and a two-light casement window to the right of a ledged door. The timber framing is largely complete, although the roof of the main house has been raised. This has resulted in four square panels from sill to wall-plate on the main house, and three square panels to the west wing.
