Description
The gateway and walls located about 20 meters north of Shelford Manor House date from the late 17th century. They are constructed from ashlar, dressed coursed rubble, and rock-face ashlar. The gateway features a pair of chamfered rusticated ashlar gate piers, each topped with ashlar coping and a single orb finial on the west pier. The north sides of the piers have fillets adorned with decorative scrolls at the top. Behind each pier, there is a decorative bracket that supports a dressed coursed rubble and ashlar wall, which has rock-face coping. The walls curve around for about 4 meters and end in small piers that have the remains of pineapple finials.
