Description

Rectory Cottage is a house dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of brick, partly rendered, and has gabled and hipped interlocking tile roofs. The eaves are rebated and dentillated, and there are two gable and one ridge stack. The house is two storeys high and has a three-bay main section, with a projecting wing to the west of the south front. The south front features an 18th-century wing and a centrally positioned door flanked by glazing bar sash windows to either side. Above the windows is a sloping dormer with a Yorkshire sash window, and another glazing bar sash. The 19th-century east front also has a centrally placed panelled door with an overlight, flanked to the right by a glazing bar sash window. There are two glazing bar sash windows above. The 18th-century wing has a principal rafter roof with collars and clasp purlins. Inside, there is a winder stair with square newel posts and stick balusters, along with a 19th-century cupboard with glazed doors, a single 18th-century plank door, two 19th-century panelled doors, and a reeded stone fireplace with paterae.
