The structure is a dam and sluices located 5 meters south-west of Pleasley Bridge, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone and ashlar. The dam wall is approximately 3 meters thick and 20 meters wide, featuring a central cutwater that is flanked by single elliptical-arched sluices. These sluices are closed on the water side by vertical wooden sluice gates and operating gear. On either side of the sluices, there are flanking walls. To the east, there is a stepped spillway.
