Description
Elm Cottage is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, built in the early 18th century and refenestrated in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and has plain tile roofs, with dentillated eaves. It features three gable stacks and a single ridge stack. The house is two storeys tall and consists of five bays in a single range. The windows are glazing bar sashes, and the ground floor openings have segmental heads.
On the west front, there are two late 19th-century tiled porch hoods supported by wooden brackets. To the left, there is a lower two-storey addition from the mid-19th century, which includes a door and a casement window, with another casement above it. Each cottage has a central door flanked by single casements of various sizes. To the right, there is a late 19th-century lean-to single-storey addition with a casement, and above it are four casements. The west gable features a 20th-century casement, while the rear elevation is blank.
Inside, the cottage has chamfered span beams and a dogleg staircase with a landing, square newels, and stick balusters, along with two plank doors.
