Description

Nos 1 and 3 Southholme, along with No 70 Beaumont Street, are a late 18th-century row of three houses constructed in painted and red brick, topped with a new asbestos hipped pantile roof. The buildings rise three storeys and feature six windows, with one blocked window on the right. They have stone rusticated lintels with keystones, with casement windows on the top floor and hung sash windows on the first and ground floors, all without glazing bars. The ground floor includes three windows and a late 19th-century and modern shop front at the corner. There is a plinth, and the door surrounds are panelled and ribbed, adorned with paterae and cornice hoods. The doors are six-panelled, four of which are glazed, and there are fanlights in round arches. The shop door at the angle is flanked by Egyptian-style columns. The elevation facing Beaumont Street has two hung sash windows with glazing bars, and one window on the ground floor with a doorcase similar to those of Nos 1 and 3, featuring a radiating fanlight and a six-panel door.
