Description

The Swan Public House is an inn that has been adapted into a public house, dating from the late 18th century, with additions from the early and late 19th century, and the 20th century. It is constructed of colourwashed, rendered red brick and features a slate roof over four bays on the right side, and a pantile roof over four bays on the left, with a raised ridge that separates the two sections. The building has a single gable stack, two ridge stacks, and an external gable stack serving the single-storey two bays on the right.

The structure has a two-storey, eight-bay front, plus two late 19th-century single-storey bays to the right. The four bays on the left, which are from the late 18th century, include a first-floor band and a carriage archway with a basket arch, raised keystone, and impost blocks. To the left of the doorway, there are two light 20th-century casement windows; the doorway itself has a semi-circular head, raised keystone, imposts, a blocked fanlight, and a partially glazed door.

On the right, there are four early 19th-century bays featuring a doorway with a plain doorcase that has a modillioned entablature and pediment, along with a partially glazed door. A canted 19th-century bay window to the left contains three glazing bar sashes separated by pilasters. To the right are two three-light casements, with two similar windows in the late 19th-century bays beyond, all having segmental heads. Above, there are three similar windows and a keyed oval window above the doorway to the left.
