Description
Ivy House is a house located on the east side of Bassingham High Street, dating from the early 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features pantile roofs with a single ridge and two gable stacks. The gables are coped with brick and include kneelers. The building is two stories tall and originally consists of five bays, with a gabled projecting central bay and a later added north cross wing in white header bond.
The house has a plinth, first and second floor bands, and elaborate dentilated eaves. The central doorway features a six-panel door with an over-light. To the left of the doorway is a blocked opening followed by a glazing bar sash, and to the right is another glazing bar sash with a blocked opening beyond it. Above the doorway, there is a central glazing bar sash flanked by single blocked openings, with single glazing bar sashes beyond. Above this is a central semi-circular fixed light. The cross wing has a single bay on the south front, with a glazing bar sash on each floor under segmental heads.
