Description

The bridge over Twenty Foot Drain is a road bridge built around 1812 under the direction of engineer John Rennie. It features red brick construction with ashlar dressings and has a basket arch topped with a red brick band. The walls are bowed and swept, ending in single square piers, and there is an ashlar-coped parapet. Some sections have been patched with 20th-century red brick. The eastern half of the bridge is located in Carrington parish, while the western half is in Westville parish. This area was drained and enclosed by John Rennie between 1802 and 1812.
