Description

The Timbered House is a house that dates from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It features a timber-framed structure with 20th-century rendered infill. The roof is made of plain tiles and slate, and it has various stacks. The house includes a hall with a cross-wing, where the hall range has a slate roof. There is a large ridge stack, a gable stack, and a coped gable with kneelers on the west side. The building has two storeys and an attic.

The north front is close-studded with scattered windows, while the south front is square-framed, also with scattered windows and two gabled dormers. The west bay is likely from the 19th century and is made of brick with a plain tiled roof, featuring a large stack on the north gable. The south gable has a jetty and elaborate timber decoration, including lozenges and circles, and two panes that contain the Prince of Wales feathers beneath three-light casements. Above this, on the bressumer, are worn figures depicting a dog chasing a fox that is chasing geese. There is a small window above in the gable.

The east front of the cross-wing has a jetty and consists of three bays, with a central doorway featuring a four-panel door and an over-light. To the right is a single three-light casement, and above, there is a central two-light window flanked by single three-light casements, all of which are 20th-century windows.

Inside, the cross-wing has heavy closed studding along with exposed beams and joists. The date of 1500 or 1506 is noted on the south gable.
