Description
Walnut Tree House is a house dating from the 18th century or early 19th century, which was remodelled and extended in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof with deep eaves and verges; the rear wing has a plain tile roof. The house has brick axial and gable end stacks.
The plan is likely a long four-room layout, which was remodelled in the mid-19th century when a wide projecting entrance bay was added to the right of the centre on the front, and a wing was built at the rear right.
The house is two storeys high with a façade comprising two, three, and one bays. The three bays to the right of centre project and are adorned with brick pilasters and a pedimental gable. There is a brick platband at the first floor level. The 19th-century three-light casements have glazing bars, painted stone lintels, and cills. The projecting bay features two-light casements, with a blind window in the centre of the first floor, a continuous first floor cill, and a central doorway with a 20th-century doorcase and door. At the rear, there are 19th-century two-light casements and a corrugated iron canopy over a large multi-pane ground floor window and doorway.
