Description
No. 5 High Street is a small cottage that dates mostly from the early 19th century, although it has an earlier core. The ground floor is constructed of ironstone rubble, while the first floor features a brick heightening topped with a Welsh slate roof that has ridge cresting. The cottage is two storeys high and has four bays, with the right-hand bay being a complete 19th-century addition in brick. The central doorway of the original building is framed by a moulded architrave and is sheltered by a lattice work porch. The lower windows are 16-light sashes, and the upper windows are 12-light sashes, all with gauged brick arched heads. There are stacks on the ridge of the original gable ends, and the overhanging eaves are adorned with decorative barge boards.
