Description
Whitehouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the early 17th century, with extensions and a new front added in the 19th century. The original 17th-century sections are built of random granite rubble, while the later parts are made of brick. The roof is covered with renewed concrete tiles. The building has three storeys and four bays, and it is positioned at the back of the street.
The northern bay is distinct and features original 17th-century ovolo moulded mullion windows with two lights. The rest of the facade is symmetrically arranged, with a central doorway set in a porch of the Tuscan order, flanked by triple light sash windows. This section is enclosed within a single-storey extension from the late 19th century that has a parapet roof. The upper windows are 12-light sashes with flat arched brick heads, and there is a moulded brick eaves cornice. The building has gable and axial stacks.
On the rear wall, there are two lower and three upper windows that retain their 17th-century mullions and flat hood moulds. An additional bay of lesser height was added to the south in the 19th century. Inside, Jacobean dado panelling can still be seen in the northernmost bay.
