Description
No. 44 High Street is a building dating from around 1744. Its facade features painted roughcast with a high stone plinth, bands, and a narrow moulded stone cornice. The building has a stone-coped parapet and a slate roof with coped gable ends and end chimneys on the main part. It stands two storeys tall and has five windows, plus an additional window above the carriageway arch on the north side. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, boxed frames, and cambered heads. The central door is inset and has a plain painted stone doorcase, a small cornice on brackets, and a plain fanlight. At the rear, there is a long colourwashed wing that includes some Gothic arched windows.
