Description

Kennels Cottage is an 18th-century cottage that was modified in the early 19th century. It was formerly two or three cottages and is constructed of granite and slate rubble stone with brick dressings and a plain tile roof. The roof features two likely earlier 19th-century brick ridge stacks in an Elizabethan style, along with an additional stack on the right extension.

The main range has gabled cross wings at either end and a lower gabled extension to the right. The cottage is 1½ storeys tall and has casement windows, predominantly with three lights and mostly center opening. A central door leads to a cross passage, with a one-light casement window to the left and a two-light casement window with a cambered lintel to the right. There is a horizontal beam at the first-floor level further to the right, and two two-light dormers above.

In the left cross wing, there is a door with a two-light casement window above it. The right wing features a similar arrangement, with a gable made of brick. The left end has a three-light casement window. The rear of the cottage, which faces a field and may have been the original front, has a central door with a porch and three-light casement windows on either side, along with two two-light dormers above. The left three-light window has a hood mould made of both brick and wood. The left cross wing contains a three-light casement window on both floors, each with a brick hood mould. In the right cross wing, there is a one-light casement window and a three-light casement window with a cambered lintel above. Inside, there are chamfered beams, a tie beam in the left cross wing, and low wide doors.
