Description
The Manor is a house that likely dates from the early 17th century, although it has a date of 16 WPM 89 marked on a timber rail in the right bay. The building has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries, including a mid-19th century extension at the rear. It features a timber frame with narrow brick nogging, much of which is in a herringbone pattern. The ground floor walls and the rear bay of the cross-wing to the left have been rebuilt in brick during the 19th and 20th centuries. The roof is made of Swithland slate, and there is a 19th century brick chimney with a pair of square shafts on the left side.
The house is designed in an L-plan, with the right bay being smaller than the left wing. It has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar. The left wing projects and has a gabled front. The gable end features an upper storey that jetties on brackets over a canted bay window with sash windows and a cellar opening, along with a three-pane sash window on the first floor. The lower bay, set back to the right, has a horizontal sliding sash window on the first floor and a flush-panelled top-lit door below, framed in wooden reveals and an architrave. The right gable includes horizontal sliding sashes on the ground floor and attic, a single casement on the first floor, and the stump of a rebuilt chimney.
At the rear, there is a 19th century brick wing with a Welsh slate roof, featuring a set of four linked chimney shafts and one bay of three-light horizontal sashes. The interior includes stop-chamfered ceiling beams and a reused staircase with 17th century turned balusters.
