Description
The North West boundary walls at Cromford Wharf were built around 1794, with some alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. Constructed from drystone rubble and patched with coursed squared stone, the walls feature rubble coping. They extend southeast from Rose Cottage for approximately 200 meters, standing about 2 meters high. This section includes two doors leading to outbuildings at Rose Cottage and a 20th-century field gate. The wall continues south for about 100 meters and then southeast for approximately 40 meters, where it meets the canal towpath at a shallow angle. This section also stands around 2 meters high and has been largely banked with soil on the west side. These walls are part of the initial development phase of the site, helping to enclose and define the area.
