Description

Ringwood Hall is an early 19th-century building constructed of coursed stone rubble with ashlar dressings. It features two storeys, with the main block on the left having a slightly projecting central bay and five sash windows set in moulded architraves. The entrance includes a porte cochere supported by coupled Ionic columns. The building has a moulded cornice and a blocking course with acroteria, along with stuccoed panelled stacks positioned diagonally. The east and part of the south sides are adorned with a continuous loggia of coupled Ionic columns.

To the right of the main block, there is an irregular portion with three projecting bays and a total of nine sash windows. This section ends with a former coach house that has three sash windows and a three-storeyed central bay featuring a pediment that encloses a clock face, topped by a squat tower with a pyramidal roof and a wind vane. The building also includes a segmental-headed arch with a keyblock and a hipped slate roof. A modern wing has been added at the rear.

Ringwood Hall was once the residence of George Stephenson, the engineer.
